Congressman Joe Wilson made a very special and sentimental donation to our C.A.R. program; it’s not just any vehicle you see. This longbed truck has held many 4×8 campaign signs over its 200k miles—and seen many campaign races over the past 10 years.
The truck, while old is a much needed donation. It’s reliable, and the A/C and heat both work. For one person currently lacking transportation to work, it will be a life changer. More
Our friends at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church helped make many homes a little brighter this year at holiday time. They collected our wish list of most needed items, and were able to come through in a major way! Some of the things they provided for our families were: slip resistant shoes, steel toe boots, socks & underwear, men’s pants, plus size women’s clothing, children’s clothing, silverware, can openers, shower curtains, towels & washcloths…and mattresses. Thank you!
Sandhills Community Church and their Angel Tree project were able to adopt 4 families over the holiday. The wishlist items were all provided for and ranged from winter coats & tennis shoes, to modest requests for toys & sports equipment. Sandhills’ efforts moved two of these mothers to tears when we called to check in on them. Providing joy to a family that otherwise would have gone without. Thank you!
Families in Shelters are saving every dollar possible to move into a more stable home environment. Often there is no extra money available for a luxury such as exchanging gifts. Each year Circle of Giving gives the children in area shelters the opportunity to experience that holiday cheer. This year over 80 children spent a joyful afternoon full of refreshments, songs & fun. During that time they were also able to “shop” for gifts for immediate family. Help bring that holiday spirit to every child and consider donating a $10 gift to Circle of Giving next year. Check out that smile!
When Trenholm Road United Methodist Church (www.trumc.org) heard about our new Pack-a-POD opportunity, they were full steam ahead! Tackling their POD in coordination with their Advent Season, they asked members to donate new & gently used coats & jackets of all sizes. Imagine our surprise when we arrived to find over 350 winter coats, boxes of children’s clothing, hats, gloves, and scarves! Wow! Special thanks to Francie Markham, Pat Bolin, Lynn King for their hard work on this project! More
