Event Alert! August Book Festival to Benefit The Cooperative Ministry

Rare Books, Author Appearances and More.
The Cooperative Ministry is sponsoring a book festival on Saturday, August 26 at the MassMutual building at 1600 St Julian Place, Columbia South Carolina 29204.  The festival hours will be 7 AM until 7 PM.
Used and rare books will be available for sale during the day.  Over 500 books from David Hodges’ South Carolina collection along with significant remnants from the collections of August Kohn, Julian and Helen Kohn Hennig, and Claude and Irene Neuffer will be offered for sale. All sales will go to The Cooperative Ministry.

Guest Authors for The Cooperative Ministry Book Festival

Guest authors will attend the festival during the day including Walter Edgar, Satch Krantz, Derek Thomas, Ken Wingate, Wilmot Irvin, Lucie Eggleston, Lee Brockington, Anita Turnage, Catherine Matthews and Miles Hayes.  When possible, these authors will bring books they have published to sell for the benefit of The Cooperative Ministry.

In addition, Walter Edgar is donating five boxes of books from his personal library and Miles Hayes is donating a box of books from his personal library. 

Something for Everyone and Every Interest

Book prices will range from $5 to $1,000.  We have children’s books, books about fly fishing, Southern books, religious books, South Carolina books, beach books, cook books, rare and collectible books and books about books. Whether you are a collector, student, parent or grandparent — or just an avid reader, you’ll find a treasure at the Book Festival.

J. W. Hunt and Company, LLP generously has offered the use of their parking lot next door to the MassMutual building.

The Happy Café, located at 4525 Forest Drive in Columbia, generously has offered The Cooperative Ministry lunch vouchers to sell on August 26 with all proceeds going to The Cooperative Ministry.

Each year we help hundreds of families get the clothing and shoes they need for work and school. We rely on donations from individuals throughout the Midlands to provide items for the needy right here in our own community. What Happens When you Donate your Old Vehicle to the Cooperative Ministry?

Donated vehicles are used to help hard working individuals get to work each day or sold to cover the cost of repairing vehicles and fund other programs and services of the Cooperative Ministry.
