The Cooperative Ministry is serving clients.

Below, please review our new procedures as we serve clients in new ways.

You can help us by donating a car, filling a food box or bag,

or making a financial donation.

HOW WE ARE NOW SERVING CLIENTS

Rent & Utility Assistance


Please visit www.coopmin.org/help, follow the directions carefully, and complete the online form.

If you do not have internet access or cannot complete an online application, please call (803) 799-3853.

If you receive a telephone appointment for crisis assistance consideration, you will be required to provide the following:

  • Proof of income. You must bring proof of income – pay stubs and/or documentation related to unemployment or other benefits.

  • Photo ID and Social Security card.

  • Copy of current lease or mortgage agreement, proving residence.

  • Copies of all household bills.




Clothing


If you need clothing, please complete the appropriate form, below, and electronically submit it. You will be contacted by e-mail with a day and time when you can pick up your clothing from our clothing bank. The clothing bank will be open Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • CLICK HERE if you are an agency requesting clothes on behalf of a client.

DONATIONS: We are accepting clothing bank donations, but items must be sealed inside a bag upon delivery to our clothing bank. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to Noon.

FRIDAYS

Bethlehem Church

Complete this form

1218 Lyon St., Columbia, SC 29204.
The church limits the number of families they can help to 10.
Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until food is exhausted week of Monday, April 20.

TUESDAYS

Saint John Baptist Church

Complete this form

3404 W. Beltline Blvd., Columbia, SC 29203.
The church limits the number of families to 30.
Hours of operation: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAYS

Rosewood Church

Complete this form

2901 Rosewood Drive, Columbia, SC 29205.
The church limits the number of families to 5.
Hours of operation: 4-6 p.m.

Emergency Food Pantry

If you are homeless or cannot get to a church providing bags of food, you may apply for food from The Cooperative Ministry's emergency pantry by using this form. We have limited supplies of food at this time. Food pick up will be held at the drive through area. Wait in your car. Someone will come to you. Available hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Free Tax Preparation Assistance (VITA)


The deadline for filing 2019 tax returns has passed.

The Cooperative Ministry will continue to see tax clients on Wednesdays only, July 22 through October 14, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointments. Capacity is limited. Assistance is available for amendments and prior year (2017, 2018) returns.

Christian Counseling


The Christian Counseling Center, Inc, a ministry of First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, offers a Free Clinical Counseling Assessment for crisis assistance clients. Please ask about this counseling assessment during your visit with our crisis personnel. Assessment will not be in person and will be conducted by telephone or video conference.
