A single mom, Amy is working hard to provide for herself and her young son. Recently she was rewarded with a raise at work. As exciting as that raise is, with it comes some hardship. Amy’s raise puts her ever so slightly above the income level where she qualifies for subsidized housing and food stamps. Accepting the raise she worked so hard for, puts her and her son in a worse financial predicament than if she remained at her current pay level. She took the raise anyway, and remains determined to work her way out of poverty.
