Financial Empowerment
Application Page

The Cooperative Ministry's mission is to increase the economic self-sufficiency of individuals. That means we want to help you gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make money choices that help you reach your personal and financial goals. Our empowerment approach features:

  • Personalized coaching to help you clarify your money challenges, find solutions, and measure your progress.

We aim to help you increase your ability to cover all your bills and living expenses each month with the money, benefits, and other resources you have. Here is what you can expect from our Financial Empowerment program:

  • You will work with a Financial Health Coach or other qualified staff to create a household spending plan (also called a budget).

  • Your plan will include financial goals, action steps for you to take, and a timeline for completion - all aimed at helping you achieve your goals.

  • You will meet regularly with your coach to discuss your successes and challenges toward completing your action steps.

  • The program will provide financial incentives - typically as payments toward your basic living expenses - to mark your progress.

Part participants have created plans that provided recovery from a temporary financial setback, paid exam fees for professional licenses or certifications for a better job, paid GED testing fees, paid expungement costs, funded savings accounts, increased credit scores, pre-paid funeral expenses, qualified for lower interest rates on major purchases, reduced debt from unsecured loans and credit cards, or bought a home.
