WE DO TAXES
The Cooperative Ministry provides free, high-quality tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers to families and individuals earning under $60,000 a year.
Wednesday, April 19, 2023 - Our office location at 3821 W. Beltline Blvd remains open for free tax preparation on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., through Sunday, Oct. 15. We will prepare the current year (2022), prior years (2018 - 2021), and amendments. No appointment is necessary.
"The IRS reminds taxpayers who are owed a refund that they won’t receive a penalty for filing late. People shouldn’t overlook filing a tax return. Every year, more than 1 million taxpayers overlook a tax refund; the IRS reminds those who didn’t file in 2019, 2020, or 2021 that time is running out to get any refund owed to them.”
File your federal and state tax return one of three ways using our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program:
OPTION 1: IN-PERSON DROPOFF & PICKUP
Arrive at one of our sites, complete the intake process, and provide needed tax documents. You will be scheduled to return to pick up your completed return on another day. Your tax return is prepared and checked for errors by IRS-certified volunteers between your two visits.
OPTION 2: VIRTUAL DROP-OFF (ONLINE)
The Cooperative Ministry has teamed up with GetYourRefund.org and
Code for America to help you file your taxes online with the help of our certified VITA volunteers. You will answer a series of questions, upload your tax documents to a secure site, and schedule a call with a certified IRS tax preparer to finalize and submit your return.
OPTION 3: DO-IT-YOURSELF THROUGH MY FREE TAXES
MyFreeTaxes allows taxpayers to prepare their own returns using a step-by-step process that includes free telephone, email, and online chat support from IRS-certified volunteers.
