WE DO TAXES

The Cooperative Ministry provides free, high-quality tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers to families and individuals earning under $69,000 a year.

Free tax services open on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at locations around the Midlands. Click here to find a site close to home or work. Operating hours vary, and no appointments are necessary at most of our sites. The number of taxpayers the sites can take in is dependent on the availability of volunteers any given day. Sites will close early each day once capacity is reached.

File your federal and state tax return one of three ways using our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program:

OPTION 1: IN-PERSON DROPOFF & PICKUP

Arrive at one of our sites, complete the intake process, and provide the tax documents needed. You will be scheduled to return to pick up your completed return on another day. Your tax return is prepared and checked for errors by IRS-certified volunteers between your two visits.

Click here for what tax documents to bring.

OPTION 2: VIRTUAL DROP-OFF & PICKUP

The Cooperative Ministry has teamed up with GetYourRefund.org to help you file your taxes online with the help of our certified VITA volunteers. You will answer a series of questions, upload your tax documents to a secure site, and schedule a call with a certified IRS tax preparer to finalize and submit your return.

Get started now.

OPTION 3: DO-IT-YOURSELF THROUGH MY FREE TAXES

MyFreeTaxes allows taxpayers to prepare their own returns using a step-by-step process that includes free telephone, email, and online chat support.

Go to MyFreeTaxes.com.
